March 4th, 2006
Well, it’s been a long time coming, but MetalAges has now been resurrected in blog format to continue promoting metal the masses. We went offline (well, the zine did) in 2001 and we continued down an alternate path in the metal music scene (web development, small label, web projects)….well, read the About Us section for the full history of MetalAges if you’re interested.
The old zine slogan still applies here; “Spanning the metal timeline, early 80s and beyond!” I’ve been listening to metal for going on 20 years now (ugh!) and the 80s scene is very dear to me as that was my first exposure to this wonderful genre of music, so I will always support the bands from that era (many of whom continue to release albums to this day). I also continue to forge ahead and listen to new bands and different sub-genres of metal, so I hope to turn you all on to some new bands along the way.
I’ll also be using this site to help metal bands promote themselves and reach out to new fan bases across the Internet. I will post tips, techniques, dos and don’ts for bands in this new era of music. It’s become much tougher to sell an album these days, so bands, you really have to give it your all if you want to succeed. If you aren’t willing to put in the time and effort to help yourself out, then why bother at all? It takes work, but this work can be FUN if you give it a chance.
Let’s see where this new journey takes us folks, I hope you enjoy it! I know I’m excited to be back!
Feel free to contact me and/or leave your own comments for the articles on this site. I will be transferring the old site reviews/interviews to this new format as well.
